The story of Mike Stone is a fairly simple one. But let's start with a brief history of his life shall we? I think it would be easiest to break his life down into two distinct stages: I-The Past, II-The Present.
I. The Past - He was born. He was good looking. He bought a guitar, just one guitar, slung way down lown... He was good at it. It was a one way ticket, only one way to go... [Gotta Keep Rockin]
II. The Present - He is still alive. He is still good looking. He still has a guitar (of course, it is slung way down low). He is better at it now then when he started.
If you ask Mike how he got into Mister Miyagi, he will likely tell you that it was fate, and that it was only a matter of time until their two worlds collided. This is, of course, a lie. He replied to an ad and got an audition. While Mike was setting up his equipment for the audition, the band was obviously already impressed with his stunning good looks, and after Mike played approximately 7 ½ notes on his guitar, they immediately stopped the music and said "We don't need to hear another sound, you are hired!" You know how you hear about those studies that have been done on how people who are good looking get more breaks and have an easier time in life than those who are not so good looking? That would apply here.
O.K., so truthfully he had to beg for a 2nd audition, and even after putting in hour after painstaking hour of practice to make sure everything was just right, the band replied once again: "We'll get back to you."; But let's not dwell on the details of how Mike got into the band. No one really cares anyway, right? It's not like it hurt his feelings or anything. And even if it did I'm sure he's over it by now, right? Anyway, let's move on. I mean seriously, how long can something like that stay with somebody. It's really not even important. So when you are at a Mister Miyagi show and you start to feel the skin melt off your face from the searing lead guitar and you feel yourself floating above the ground because of the unbelievably beautiful vocals, go give a big "Thank You!" along with a hug, to Jesse, Greg, Peter, Brian, and Audrey, for finally letting Mike into the band! They could really use a hug anyway. Trust me.
